I have taken my 8” uconnect out and installed a 12” uconnect 5. I bought a conversion harness to get all the wires to the right places and I put the obd bypass in the can bar to make the changes in alfaobd. Everything seems kosher. I have control of the climate controls, but can’t get the screen to come on. I have disconnected the battery to reboot everything and have left it to sit in hopes of it learning from the bcm but still no avail. What am I missing?

That’s what I had happen with mine too. Turned out when I had the conversion harness I got a lvds cable that belonged to a uc4 instead of the uc5 I needed. They don’t sell the uc5 lvds cable anywhere I could find, so I cut it and soldered it back the way it needed to be. It’s been working like this for over a year now.

Do you happen to know how they need to be soldered? A diagram of some sort? I’ll try that, everything seems to work except I can’t see anything because the screen is black.

Jimmy07 gave this and pointed me in the right direction. Check for continuity before you cut the cable to be sure that’s the issue. And if it is, make sure you change the 4 wires and reconnect the braided line that surrounds them.1738706141799.png

I checked continuity on all of them and that’s not the issue. Back to the drawing board.

Did you verify the screen part number is for the uc5? The uc4 screen is the same connector but not compatible with the uc5 module

No I didn’t. I’ll check that out. So I may need to find a uc4 module if that’s the case? I’ll need a code? Or a vin from the donor?
