Fit and Finish - Branding

I will be the first to admit that I am a detail person after 40+ years in the engineering and manufacturing fields, so having qualified that I am very unhappy with the so called "branding" of the glove box door on my 2019 RAM Laramie Longhorn Crew Cab. The glovebox door on my new $65K+ truck as delivered to me new was so light that the passenger sitting right in front of it could not read the words. I reported this to my dealer and he ordered a replacement. I had the new door installed today and although some of the lettering is better, other parts are worse. It now reads " unghorn" with a missing "L".

This is just plan stupid poor quality inspection and the replacement door I received should have never left the factory, supplier or parts depot. To make matters worse this is no easy fix. It took 1-1/2 hours for the dealer to replace it. I would prefer a glovebox with no logo if this is how FCA is branding its products. As they say in the business, "the devil's in the details!"

This is the original door. I would appreciate any feedback anyone may have on this?

Totally agree with you that the lack of quality control is abysmal. I have never in my life dealt with such fit/finish issues with other manufacturers and i have owned 20+ new vehicles in my day. As much as I love many aspects of my truck there its pathetic how many fit/finish issues people are dealing with (myself included). Dont settle for anything less than perfect. These trucks are crazy expensive. I'm dealing with FCA about a leather dash issue and am pissed that I have to look at a defect everyday that never should have passed QC and never would have with another manufacturer.

Mine is darker than that, but I would have liked more depth (see pictures here). I wonder if rubbing a bit of stain or Old English over it would catch in the branding marks and darken it?

Sad that anyone would have to even consider trying to tweak things like this on 60+k vehicles. It should be perfect from the factory. Mechanical issues here and there are a given but trim pieces looking like crap from the factory and replacement parts? Come on FCA give people what they pay for already.

I dissemble car interiors for a living - the Ram is pretty high on the list of fit and finish.

I never had to bring a car back to correct an interior or exterior fit/finish issue. I too worked in the industry. I was an auto body mechanic back in the 70s and 80s so I am not pulling stuff out of my a#$. I love lots about the truck but am not lying to myself when I say FCA quality control is the worst I've ever experienced.

That's what I was thinking. Brands aren't perfect out on ranches and maybe that's what the design team was trying to do. Just a thought.....


And... The fit and finish of my Limited is much better than the 2016 F150 King Ranch I traded.
