I confirmed, much to my disappointment, that body color door handles are no longer standard on the 2021 Rebel and they’re only available with the Rebel Level 2 package. I don’t really want or need any of the other options in Level 2 so I’m not sure it’s worth spending $1000 more than Level 1 just for colored door handles.

With that said, are the non-colored door handles just basic, unfinished plastic? I’m wondering what they will look like after a few years of sun and element exposure.

If they’re not body colour then they would be textured black like the tradesman .

It's really kind of disappointing how many things that used to be standard on the Rebel are now things you have to pay extra for. Such as air suspension, remote start, remote proximity entry, body colored door handles, among other things. You can get the body colored door handles on the 2021 Rebel if you add the Comfort and Convenience Group along with Level 1 package for $695. But that's still a lot to pay if all you want is body colored door handles.

Pretty sure they are just unfinished black plastic. That's what they seemed to be on the 2015 Tradesman I used to own. They looked fine after a couple of years of ownership. But if you're wondering how they'll look after more years you might look around your area for older Tradesman trucks and see how they're holding up.

That's the thing. I heard from Koons that the RAM website is wrong and that the body color door handles are ONLY available with the Rebel Level 2 package. If they were available in the Comfort and Convenience Group, that would still be less than ideal but it would be acceptable.

That's very possible. The online configuration tool has had a lot of issues over the years, especially since the 2021's have been added. Only way to know for sure is to have a dealership configure a truck for you. Good luck to you!

I just got this directly from FCA customer support:

“The 2021 Ram 1500 Rebel model is available with optional Body Color Door Handles. This feature is either available as part of our Level 2 Equipment Group or Comfort & Convenience Group when equipped with the Level 1 Equipment Group.”

So someone is misinformed but I don’t know who it is yet.

Are you planning to order this truck? If not you're at the mercy of what dealers in your buying area order, as far as combinations of options goes. If you are ordering, you'll find out exactly what you need to opt for in order to have the door handles you want. If you aren't ordering, just look at the trucks that have them. And negotiate price from there.

Yep, planning to order. Just didn’t want to order with the comfort and convenience group only to find out when the truck arrived at the dealer that Level 2 is required for the body color door handles.
