Extended Travel CV Shaft

I have a '21 with 2.5 Bilstein 6112s up in the front. The passenger CV axle has gone out and wondering if i should have it replaced at the dealership with the OEM CV axle or go for the Trakmotive extended travel CV? Any thoughts? I do quite a bit of offroading.
Have had the front completely stock other than the Bilsteins and Icon UCAs for 60k miles and this is the first issue i have had.
Get the Trakmotive. But if you are under warranty, and the dealer will replace it, I highly recommend letting the dealer replace it with OEM before putting the Trakmotive on. There is a high chance the xcaxle won't come out easy and they may have to ake diff apart. Once they replace it, under warranty, then install the Trakmotive ones, and it will be a much easier job for you. I was able to replace mine in under an hour

how often do you go full droop? catch air?

tbh 60k miles on the setup is quite good already, i'd go with stock CV unless you're catching air or full drooping a lot. i mean if the stock length is not good for your application yours wouldn't last 60k lol

The Trakmotive axles are almost half the price of OEM Mopar axles. Might as well save money and get a better axle

oh **** i didn't know that.
i mean i will when my cv eventually fail then i'll look into it and compare pricing with the mopar discount i get but that's good to know!
 
Just as an FYI, I installed one on my drivers side last year on my 2020, and had a very slight interference with my Fox 2.5s in a small spot. I drove it for around 50 miles to wear it down, and it's been perfect since

Sorry about the lack or replies. I just took these pictures, this is after about 30k miles on both. I did not modifications, just let the metals fight it out. This is the first time I've looked at it in over a year, and have done some pretty severe work/play with it then. I plan on having them rebuilt soon, as I'm at about 40k miles on them and just added 220lbs to the front end as well.

As an addition to this thread, I have been thinking about extended travel CV’s for lowered trucks as well, and had a conversation with a tech at Trakmotive and while they have not specifically tested them on lowered 4wd’s in theory the benefits they provide to lifted trucks also applies to lowered, but said they have no idea on any clearance issues on lowered trucks

Interesting. I can imagine the concept, but have never seen a lowered RAM CV angles.

To be fair, I have not seen one first hand myself, but as I was taking to IHC about their 3” lowering spindles they send me this picture of a Ram equipped with them sitting on vehicle weight, and while its always hard to tell from one picture, especially with the boots on, I feel like these angles could benefit from a CV with extended range

I am not an engineer, and do not fully understand the design of stock or aftermarket CVs with respect to whether this is acceptable or not….

That doesn't look too bad, but also taken from a lower position then side position. I think the major issue is for droop when off-roading that lowered or stock vehicles would be fine.

Usage plays a big role as well…. For the amount of time the majority of 4wd’s actually spend in 4wd either lifted or lowered it probably doesnt matter that much….

But, if you are applying power when at extreme angles, have large tires stuffed or drooped and/or the wheels cranked to one side you are pushing limits…. So you have to be mindful of that as well…

With aftermarket CV’s with increased angles available it could be cheap insurance, but, I probably would not change them out on a brand new truck or until there was an issue…
