Exhaust Suggestion Please

I have a 2021 Rebel. I have about 5k miles on it. I think it may be time to upgrade the exhaust. I am looking for some decent growl, but also do not want to void my warranty.
Any suggestions? Thanks in advance.

Catback exhaust or muffler change of any kind will not void the warranty. So many options you have, from complete catback exhaust that cost $1200 or so, to simply welding on a new muffler, which is less than $300 done by a good muffler shop.

I went the muffler rout, my truck sounds amazing, like 60s muscle car, but still quiet on the highway and when cruising. I went with a Flowmaster Outlaw muffler, which is more on the aggressive side.

I recommend you speak with a good muffler shop in your area and ask them what muffler (or full exhaust) they recommend for the sound & budget you are looking for.

Absolutely, happy to help!

I kept them stock, though you will likely hear the air going through the weep holes with an aftermarket muffler, giving an "airy" sound from the rear during a cold start. It goes away after the truck warms up and quiets down.

You can remove the rear resonators, lots of people do, not sure how that sounds since I kept mine there. The two back resonators I believe have 4 weep holes each, two in the front and two in the back. Some people simply have the back weep holes filled, leaving the front weep holes open to allow water to still drain. The muffler shop can do that for you if you want.

Your 2021 shouldn't have the front resonator, the one that is just after the catalytic converter, it was present on 2019 and mid-cycle 2020 trucks, but no longer on newer trucks.

I bought a Borla s type and had the local exhaust shop replace the original muffler. I left everything else as factory and it sounds great.

Did flowmaster flowfx muffler only today. It is definitely on the moderate side. Gives you some rumble when you want it to but also pretty tame if you don’t mash it which is just what I wanted.
I purchased muffler on my own and had best shop in town install, everything total cost me $160 and I was in and out in under 45 minutes. I kept resonators, if you decide to remove them it will very noticeably increase your sound if that’s what you are looking for.

I got the Outlaw and I love it every time I drive. Gives the truck a sense of occasion, I think you will love it. The muscle car growl, but no drone when cruising or highway.

Just note, as with all aftermarket mufflers, you will notice a drone when in MDS (4-cylinder mode). There is a reason why the stock muffler is the size of a oil drum. It's easy to fix, you simply set your gear limited button to 8, so the truck doesn't go into MDS mode if the drone bothers you.

The only aftermarket exhaust that does not drone in MDS mode is the full catback systems, such as the Borla ATAK, but those are around $1000 before installation. However, you are also adding new resonators, so not sure how the would change the sound in MDS mode. Maybe it wont drone at all.

Solo Performance MR300 muffler delete. Cut and clamp kit. Sounds amazing from idle to full throttle. Zero drone and barely noticeable when cruising at highway speeds. Super great quality and easy install.

I really like the sound of that muffler delete. Its only 169 too. Will that void the warranty? Just want to make sure but that seems like a really good option.

Any decent muffler shop can just remove the muffler and weld in a straight pipe. It's actually what my local shop suggested when I went to them to buy a more aggressive sounding muffler. They told me the best thing to do is remove the muffler and leave the resonators. Charged me $80! Said if I wasn't happy they'd apply the $80 to my muffler install when I come back, so I couldn't beat that deal. I never went back and the guy that bought my 2019 RAM loved the sound.

If you're not going full cat-back then replace the stock muffler with a moderate replacement e.g., FlowFX, Borla S, Magnaflow22. Then delete the rear resonators. There are companies that make cut and clamp mufflers and resonator delete with tips so no welding is necessary. You can do this work yourself quite easily. Or, you can pay a shop weld a muffler and bend/weld piping. Don't put aluminized steel piping nor mufflers. The stock system is 409 stainless. Replace with at least 409. The premium cat-back systems are 304 stainless e.g., Borla, Corsa and stainless works.

I like the straight pipe sound but am a little afraid it may be TOO loud. Would a better suggestion to go with the outback or magnaflow22 and then just delete the resonators? I mean, If I go straight pipe, I could always add the muffler and delete the resonators if its too much.

You could always give it a shot. My local shop mentioned I'd likely have some really noticeable drone issues if I remove the resonators without going with a full catback. Maybe someone else has actually tried it though and can chime in here. I didn't think it was too loud at all. I didn't even notice it unless my foot got too heavy.

I have a 2021 Rebel and had a muffler shop do a delete. They welded in a new straight pipe. Still didn’t sound like my old 2009 so I did the B2B resonator delete. You cut the pipe at curve on input to resonators and clamp new pipe in. Took less that an hour to do myself, sound is amazing outside but still quieter inside than my old ram. These trucks have excellent sound deadening so very mild inside even on highway trips.

I've had a few different systems on trucks and cars I've owned and I put a Borla type S cat back system on my truck and i will say it's the best sounding and still quiet cruising on the highway. My daughter put a Borla Atak cat back on her Charger 6.2 srt and it sounds awesome and still quiet enough when regular driving.

i just put the borla stype on today & its way too quiet i had a corsa sport on my gmc & it was 2x as loud & deep
should have gone with the atak
