I took my 2020 RAM 1500 Bighorn 4WD [5.7 Hemi V8] in for a tune up. It has just over 100k miles on it. The service manager asked if I heard a ticking upon start up. I didn't but he went on to tell me that I need to have both exhaust manifolds replaced. I'll take it for a second opinion but any experience with that? How is that actually diagnosed? Thanks!

Do a search and you will find a lot of posts on it. This is a common issue that should be a recall.

The exhaust tick is normal on the hemi. Most every 5.7 has this issue at some point, especially by 100k. Some of the manifold bolts to break over time, and the manifolds themselves may crack too. If you don’t notice it, then don’t worry about it. Once they heat up, they seal up again and you’re fine. I’d fix it once you notice the noise a lot or if you smell exhaust after driving it. At 100k miles, best of luck getting anyone to fix/replace them for free.

My passenger side broke a stud. They will make a ticking sound when cold.

All Hemi’s gonna have some type of tick but that ticks volume is greatly increased once your manifolds/bolts or broken or cracked.
