Is there anything special with the brakes on these 2023 RAMs with eTorque and regenerative braking? For the past few years I've been doing my own brakes, but I'm wondering if the brakes on these trucks are different in some way that I shouldn't attempt to do this myself. No, I don't need brakes yet... I'm just curious. What about this electronic parking brake crap? I've never had a vehicle with that, either.
And before anyone asks or mentions it, yes I did a search and it came up with 100s of results - most having nothing to do with brakes at all. The search function here needs some AI help, I'm thinking. LOL

Nope. The brake pads have nothing to do with it.

Location
Southern Maryland.
Rotors either?
No.

This info should be in your owners manual.
I`ll post it anyways.

"When servicing your rear brakes, it may be necessary for you

or your technician to push the rear piston into the rear caliper

bore. With the electric park brake system, this can only be

done after retracting the Electric Park Brake actuator. Fortu[1]nately, actuator retraction can be done easily by entering the

Brake Service Mode through the Uconnect Settings in your

vehicle. This menu based system will guide you through the

steps necessary to retract the EPB actuator in order to

perform rear brake service.

Service Mode has requirements that must be met in order to

be activated:

• The vehicle must be at a standstill.

• The park brake must be unapplied.

• The transmission must be in PARK or NEUTRAL.

While in service mode, the Electric Park Brake fault lamp will

flash continuously while the ignition is ON.

When brake service work is complete, the following steps

must be followed to reset the park brake system to normal

operation:

• Ensure the vehicle is at a standstill.

• Press the brake pedal with moderate force.

• Apply the Electric Park Brake Switch"

So, for the rears, I have a question as the electric e brake is new to me as well.
I do my own brakes, I kinda like doing them still. On my 2015 Limited, the E brake was a set of drum brake shoes, via cable, on the rears. PITA to get the rear rotors off… had to down adjust the rear shoes to remove the rear rotors.

I‘m assuming, based on what I’m reading here, no more drum/shoe system in side the rear rotors for e brake?
