Engine Temp Spike

I have a 2021 1500 5.7L.

I have noticed for the past week the coolant fan running constantly once the engine came up to running temp…not shut off until I shut the truck off.

Today, the temp warning light came on and the analog gauge pegged out on red while on the freeway. I pulled off immediately and as soon as my speed came down the red high temp light went off and the analog gauge started coming down to “normal”.

Any ideas out there what is going on?
