Engine rust??

Had the hood up today and noticed these rusty spots. Is this normal for a hemi was purchased in February??

Surface rust can even form a bit of a barrier, keep real rust from penetrating or causing deeper damage. It doesn't always look the best, but its just cosmetic, in my experience.

No idea what they metal is but use to build industrial picnic tables for the DNR and poles for utilities that were heavy and made form a metal called Core-10. It actually weathered with a rust coating that protected it.. As mentioned above sometimes surface rust may not be an issue.

Looks like corrosion on the aluminum as well. That wouldn't be normal in Florida but in snow country where they use chemicals on the road to melt the snow it is very common.

Yes, normal. All of the unprotected metal on the truck will show rust. Don’t look at the undercarriage, or even under the dash/knee bolster if you think the engine bay is bad.
