Electronic Range Select (ERS) in 2021 Rebel

Love my 2021 RAM 1500 Rebel and have had 0 issues. I don't really tow anything but does anybody know what the advantage is of limiting the top gears on the truck? I have it set to 8 and leave it. Should I be lowering it for some reason?

This is only to control the highest gear when working the truck hard and not going into a higher gear is advisable.

An additional "feature" of this type of gear limiting as used by the OP, is that it disables 4-cylinder (ECO) mode, so the engine always uses all 8 cylinders.
