Has anyone tried installing the Ecoflow Alternator in the RAM? I just picked on of these up recently and any feedback would help.

I installed it in mine, but I haven't used it much other than to test it out.

I had already run 6 AWG (the same gauge as comes with the EcoFlow Alternator Charger/EFAC) from the starter battery to the bed of my truck, so I'm using that. I cut the included wire for the EFAC, added an Anderson SB50 connector to mate with the connector on my wire pair.

The trickiest part is likely to be picking the activation voltage for the EF. They only allow 0.5V increments (if you find yours is only allowing 1V increments, update the EF firmware), so I can have it kick in at, for instance, 13.0V or 13.5V. But neither of these is ideal. With my eTorque, driving voltage is frequently below 13.5V, and when stopped, it's frequently above 13.0V. That means, if I set the EFAC voltage to 13.5V, it may not charge while I'm driving, and if I set it to 13.0V, it may continue charging when I'm parked.

This isn't the end of the world; I could set it to 13.0V, then turn the EFAC off when I park. And if I forget to turn it off, it won't drain my starter battery so low that I can start. And if it did, I could use the EFAC's reverse charge mode to top off the starter battery.

Long story short, so far, so good, but I haven't really put it through its paces yet.

@jimothy - Have you had a chance to run your setup through it's paces? I have the eTorque motor and am considering the EFAC as part of my power setup. I haven't been able to find much information on installing it on the eTorque.

Actually, I’ve now turned my attention to the new Etaker F2000 solar and alternator charger, as it can also charge my 24V LFP battery. It’s more versatile overall, as it works either way any power station plus 12/24/36/48V batteries. And you can adjust the trigger voltage (the minimum starter battery/alternator for it to charge a power station or auxiliary battery) in 0.1V increments, versus 0.5V on the EcoFlow, which makes it a bit easier to integrate with our eTorques. (The Etaker also has a mostly undocumented alternator signal wire, so it will only charge when the truck is running, but not connector is provided.)

I’ve documented my experience with the F2000 on another forum.

But the EcoFlow has some advantages if you’re all-in on compatible EcoFlow power stations: it’s smaller, solidly built like a tank, should be more weather resistant, and the app is nicer. If you’re interested, I’ll probably sell mine, simply because I’ve got a bare LFP battery in addition to the Delta 3.
