E-Torque Questions

That's not the case if you build one online right now. Can't speak for the dealer system.
Yes, you can still build one on the Ram build page, just curious if anyone else had this experience at the dealer on the dealer build computer sheet?

I think this is just a technicality. Once they start shipping the V6 it will be the standard engine and it only comes with eTorque. Therefore eTorque would be standard. So both that statement and "you can get a non-eTorque Hemi" would both be true.

Good point, that would make sense. I knew the v-6 would eventually be standard as e-torque only, just was concerned with the dealer build sheet. Hopefully it was not correct. Thanks!

So even though it is a $800 upgrade which includes the BSG, wiring, and battery, you think the battery itself will cost thousands?

Based on the published specs, it is a 48v, 9 amp lithium battery. Just looking at misc specs, it seems you can order something like that online for anywhere from $400-1000.

I'm disappointed in the lack of info on the etorque system. I would have held off on my order if there were more detailed specs available, and at $800 it would be a bargain if it provided any sort of meaningful performance benefit. The fact that Ram has been so tight lipped about it makes me think it is less exciting than we'd like.

I'm holding out hope for a more interesting 2nd gen of the system. I've owned a dodge/jeep/ram for the last 18 years, but I don't give them the highest scores at rolling out new tech. It was a big enough leap of faith pre-ordering a 2019.
I just purchased a 2021 got about 100 miles on it. No concerns yet except I was looking for procedures on how to remove and replace in 8 years or 100,000 miles when warranty dies and battery probably will also. I was looking at a high end self driving F150 with Powerboost. I called service department there and gave me a price on that battery.. $5000. I saw somewhere that the RAM battery is $1500 a battery.. no labor idea..

I just asked a tech at my dealer about removing the etorque. He said it mostly depends on the wiring harness. He said it is either under the truck or through the truck. If through, removing that requires removing seats, dash, etc. But he would have to look into where it runs. Either way, probably not worth it financially as it sounds a lot more involved than just putting in an alternator and reprogram.
