Ive had a parasitic drain on my 2020 Ram since I purchased it back in late 2019. Ive had a completely dead battery about 4 times, which isn’t a big deal until it is. I keep a jump pack with me which solves the problem.
I decided to try and track down whats causing it. I put my meter on the positive battery cable and notice its pulling .5A to .6A; note that ive left the truck sitting overnight so everything is asleep. I pulled each fuse in the fuse box under the hood looking for a change in amperage draw, but nothing. I put the meter on the right side of the alternator (the one that comes on the e-torque version) and saw the saw .5A-.6A draw here. This cant be normal but would explain where the draw was coming from.
Where do I go from here? Ive got 95k miles on this truck and still love it; no intent on selling it anytime soon, but would like to resolve this. Is there an internal part that’s gone bad, causing this?
