A guy on an e-bike slammed into my parked truck over the weekend. He got beat up pretty good trying to ram my Ram. He left behind a tooth, a few drops of blood, and a lot of broken bike parts.

Luckily a neighbor saw it, called the police, and they wrote up a report. My insurance is involved and handling everything.

I learned that most people don’t have insurance that covers damage that you cause on a bike. Auto insurance typically only covers you when driving a vehicle. His homeowner insurance might help depending on his coverage, umbrella’s, etc. They do sell bike insurance but I doubt most people have that coverage.

The bicyclist must not have been a Green Bay Packers fan, and was blinded by their rage.

Sorry about your truck though 🙁

If that’s what your truck looks like.. he’s gotta be a helluva lot worse for wear…
And yep, I don’t have an EBike, but I do have a Harley and it’s full coverage.
I don’t have bicycle insurance…and I rarely ride mine for the same reason I rarely ride my Harley anymore.
Too many distracted drivers.. I’d be willing to bet…guy was looking at his phone. Just a hunch.

yea that is crappy.. i bet something is gonna come down the pipe soon that those dudes gotta carry insurance on those things.. good thing your neighbor saw it or the dude mighta took off...

I hope you're okay and that no loved ones were injured in any shape or form. But how fast was that guy going? Left a tooth? I bet that hurt AF.

Ironically I was out on a bike ride myself (no, I don't own an e-bike). I guess that he and his bike continued down the street until he realized that he was too disoriented to keep moving. Eventually the police showed up, thanks to my neighbor. Otherwise he would have eventually gotten his marbles rolling and moved on.

After all was said and done, he walked back to my house and apologized to my wife. She said that he was all mangled and in tears but refused to go to the hospital.

I'm glad that he's generally okay and hope that he doesn't have lasting injuries. My truck will get fixed. It's just an unfortunate hassle.

The cops estimated that he was doing at least 20mph. He said that he just didn't notice the truck. I would assume that he was either looking around or at his phone.

He probably drives like that, with his head up his ***. How do you go that fast and still not see a TRUCK parked in the road? Life has a way of filtering them out, albeit very slowly.
Sorry about your truck.

Holy crap that’s a hard hit from an e-bike. How does the bike look?😲

Seen much less damage getting hit by a 3500 lb car.

I never saw the e-bike or the rider. I was out on a 30-mile bike ride myself that morning, so everything was done by the time I returned home.

I suspect that his bike was in worse shape than my truck. That was an expensive morning for him considering his bike damage, any medical/re-hab bills, and the $5k+ damage that he did to my truck.
