Today I got out of my vehicle, forgot to push Engine Stop Button(had a senior moment), closed the door, hit the security locked button and walked away. Went inside a store shopping for a good half hour that was several hundred feet away from the vehicle. It was still locked and running. I know the manual says it will turn off after 15 minutes if remote started and not subsequently had the Start/Stop button pushed. Is what happened to me normal or should the vehicle have turned off if the key fob was not near for some period? If this is normal I am going to have to be more careful

Nope. Would've run forever. It only auto shuts off if you remote start it.

Some cars do shut off after 20 mins of idling. The fords do. I haven’t tried with the rams but I think they did that in case the car is garaged to prevent possible carbon monoxide.

After a certain time my current F250 will prompt me on the screen that the engine will shut off in so many minutes. I have only seen the prompt one time so I can't remember the specific wording. Apparently I had been idling to long.

It does shift to park automatically if you turn it off with it still in gear, it's kinda spooky watching the shift knob turn by itself.

I think you can actually drive away with out the key. You just can restart it.

I'm not sure about this Ram but my F150 and my Mustang would prompt "Car will shut down in 20 seconds" after idling for 10 minutes unless you pressed ok.

Don’t be so hard on yourself. I’ve done it twice. Realized as I was stepping out of the car though. I think for me it’s because im holding the keys in my hand and I’ve never had a push button start/stop. Will take some getting used to.
