I have a Honda Accord and the passenger side always stays sync with the drivers side, we never use separate temperature settings, my wife just turns the vent towards me and I’m even more happy. She had a a gmc Yukon that the climate control messed up and after removing the the dash, which was never the same, and over a $1000 dollars it was back working. Service guy said don’t be surprised if it happens again. So my question is why would someone opt for something complicated and a lot of things could go wrong when all you have to do is close or change the position of a simple vent. Are we just that lazy and spoiled?

New member, first post. Not a Ram-specific question, and not really even a question. Are you just here to stir up trouble, or is there something you’d genuinely like to discuss?

Welcome to the 5th Generation RAM forum.
The answers are because it's cool, and yes.
Yes its cool until one side starts blowing out hot air on a 90 degree day and a $1000 later your dash is tore out and the technician tells you it will probably happen again.

I promise I'm trying to decide whether to get to it, the option is not that expensive and I would purchase it If its dependable. I have it on my Honda Accord just because that's what it came with. Mostly both sides are sync and I have it set on its lowest setting and jus adjust fan speed. If people are having trouble with it I would stay simple as its not that important to me. My biggest issue is after my wife gets out of the car I have to reopen and change the direction of her vents. Dual climate control would solve this. So my question is are there any reports of this system failing and what has to be done to fix it? I'm ordering this truck so I don't have to accept something that could be a problem.

What truck are you ordering? Are you asking if ram has issues with dual climate controls?

I'm doing different builds on the tradesman, big horn and Laramie just to see the price difference with the option I know I want. My Honda has that adaptive cruise and lane guidance and it works flawlessly and would like to get it on this ram if it works as good. probably will eventually talk to the service manager on some of the high tech stuff

There are a few stories of people having issues with the dual zone climate, but it's not common. My wife's Traverse and my truck both have it. It's been used to set separate temps a few times, but mostly both sides are synced. The wife's Traverse actually has three zones

I’ve never had issues. Good thing about ram is you don’t have to turn the vents. There’s a shut off on each one so the passenger can also just close them to their comfort level. My wife does that instead of messing with the controls or the vents.

I’m not saying this to ruffle any feathers so stay calm.
It seems a little useless when the two people are sitting within a few feet of each other but yet it’s such a good thing to have. The air is going to mix fairly quickly and it seems to me the uncomfortable person can shut off or redirect the vent. Maybe even making the other passenger more comfortable. The other thing I think about is how the system (on a hot day) warms the air on the higher setpoint side. Maybe draw in hot air from the outside? Use hot water from the engines? Screw all that I’ll just keep a blanket in the truck for the cold nature person and keep my system simple. Next thing will have is individual climate control at restaurant boots, bathroom stalls. Even though I may still get this for its low price I think it’s not worth the possible problems.

I'm offended. I don't have feathers, so now I'm not calm!
😁

We've had dual climate in vehicles for 20 years and never an issue. Our SUV is 10 years old now and still going strong. Previous 2004 and 2007 had it with no issues.

It's like the old farts who don't trust power windows - sure there might have been some problems in the early days, but get over it, they're reliable today and have been for decades.

I’m sorry you didn’t recognize the question, please don’t waste anymore of your time.

I agree with your statement that two people sitting feet apart will experience the same blended air in minutes. My system is always set to Sync and my wife just moves the vent so it doesn't blow on her. Then my son gets in and complains because the vent was either closed or redirected. You can never please everybody.

I want the interior of the truck at a certain temp, so I sync mine. I also don't have the vents blowing directly on the passengers. I aim all of them up since I live in Florida and cool air is always blowing. This way there's no direct air blowing on anyone, unless they redirect the vent to do so.

I mean, if people are moving the vents so it's not as cold/hot in them, then that's where the dual zone comes in and they can change the temp of the air blowing out the vents towards them to a more comfortable temperature for them. As long as the air is blowing out the vents there will be a difference in temp side to side in the truck.

Now that makes sense, blast it until the hottest person gets cold with the others wrapped blankets and then turn it down. We live in a society with a bunch of weaklings . No need to waste energy for half the cab.
