My truck is supposed to have the drowsy driver detection, but having almost fallen asleep on my ride home from work this morning, I’m left wondering if mine even works. I had to stop for coffee just to get home after a long night. Thankfully the active driver assist kept me from going off the road. How do we know if it’s working? Is there a visible camera or something?

I would like to know as well. I was wide awake staring down the road mid morning and mine popped on!? Wondering what triggers it being that was about as wide awake in the day I will ever be. Lol

that's scary. i have a CDL a question on the test is "what is the cure for fatigue" it's a multi choice.
get coffee
get out and walk around
roll the windows down
the correct answer is SLEEP, get adequate rest.
please don't rely on the trucks safety systems. also practice the SMITH SYSTEM keep you eyes moving checking your mirrors every 10 seconds or so. the road lines have a hypnotic effect just starring straight ahead is no really good. people wonder how truck drivers do it well those are couple things we do.

Mine came with many, many extra warnings. Like, the speed limit is, watch out for the deer, oh the light is changing, And the list goes on!!!

Pretty soon the truck will wipe your backside

Same thing happened to me, wide awake expressway driving.

That and cocaine. I’ve heard truckers like a little bump to keep them going.

I wish I could’ve slept, but I’m a firefighter so some nights we don’t get that option.

You don't need no sleep you got something else to keep you going. Well depending on conditions and if you have become conditioned like Pavlov's dog to the alarm signals.

And then you get this
"Long-term exposure to cortisol and other stress hormones can negatively affect almost all of your body’s processes. This can increase your risk of health issues such as heart attack and stroke."
