Drivers sie folding mirror issue

The motor/gear in my drivers side folding mirror stopped working. I replaced the entire unit. I would like to find out if I can dismantle the old unit and replace the motor or gear. Has anyone done this?

It's likely the plastic gear. There is one company I know of that makes metal gears for the RAM folding mirrors, but they haven't finished their development for the 5th gens yet.
