I have a 2019 Ram 1500 Laramie and When I stop and get out I hit the inside door lock switch to lock the doors than as soon as I shut the door the truck honks 3 times and unlocks the doors. I took this ti a mechanic and after looking for issues said it was normal and I was supposed to use the fob or the button on the outside handle. My gen 4 ram didn't do this and It doesn't make sense why they would make it this way. I can see it doing this if I left the key fob inside but not all the time. Is this guy just making this up and there is an issue or is it just because he cant figure it out. Kept my truck several days before telling me this.

That's how I get out and lock my truck most of the time, so no, not normal. It thinks your fob is still in the vehicle for some reason.

Did you by this truck used? There might be a key fob hidden inside the truck from previous owner.

a good test would be to get in the truck without your key fob and see if it will let you start it up. if it does, there's most likely another key fob hidden in there somewhere.

I have left a spare FOB in my truck and I can still lock it from the outside as long as I have another FOB with me on the outside. Using the push button on the door or the outside FOB buttons. I have never tried to lock it using the door buttons with the door open and a FOB inside and a FOB outside. Or no FOB outside and a FOB inside. Too many combinations. Why not just always lock using the push button on the outside door handle? Or occasionally using an outside FOB buttons for whatever reason.

Because it should work how he wants to do it. It does on others. He already mentions that he can do it from outside the vehicle. What if he goes out to his truck to lock it because he forgot to do it. He should be able to open the door and push the lock button and close it. All while the FOB is in the house or no where near the truck.
