I finally got around to fabricating and installing door sill protectors on my Longhorn. I've always fabricated protectors on previous vehicles using an "anti slip" tape; usually black in color. Since I now have a white truck, and also wanting to bring the material over the "leading edge" of the rocker panels, as that is a very vulnerable area for damage, I needed to find a close color match in the material, as using clear PPF was not an option due to unavoidable air bubbles. I sent for samples from Heskins, and one matched the tri - coat pearl exceptionally well. So for around $45.00 + shipping, and a few hours of my time, I have a near perfect color match, plus super durable door sill protection.

Ive been looking for an option for this! I temporally applied the clear 3m product until I found a better option; I have a ton of air bubbles!

That's why I I don't use PPF. No matter how careful its applied, there are always a few bubbles, plus scratches from using a squeegee. Heskins is the largest supplier of safety and anti slip tape in the world and has a location in PA. They will send you samples free of charge. I used the "Resilient" tape rather that the "Aqua Safe", as it's slightly thinner and less textured. Also, these tapes are smooth, in that they do not have a gritty texture like carbide sandpaper.

I used Xpel in the same areas. Easy to apply and durable.

Had no problem with vivid 3m clear ppf Can’t even tell it’s there. Any air bubbles will work themselves out in a week or 2

So why make the rear ones so small? That’s always been my complaint on buying these( I usually buy decorative metal ones) the tears are always so tiny on a crew cab door opening.

Do you have a link to the exact tape you used? I also have tri-coat white.

If you have a dark truck, these are precut and around $25 on Amazon or EBay. Install was bubble free and about 20 mins. The important thing is they work.

www.heskins.us there in butler PA. You can call and request samples that they will send you free of charge. I used the less aggressive material and the color match is perfect for the Ivory Tri Coat. Hope this helps.

Maybe it's just me, but it doesn't look even remotely like a perfect match to me. On my monitor it's like looking at the difference between Ivory White and Bright White. I'm glad you're happy with the results, which tells me it's probably much better when seen in person. Thanks for the info and the link. I might see if they have a blue that comes close to my Patriot Blue.

Your welcome. Yes, maybe it is your monitor but it is a "very close" match; perfect might not have been the word to use. They do have different colors.
