Does DEF always come with full for new RAM 1500?

Dealers always fill up full fuel tank for your regardless it is diesel or gas. But do they also fill up DEF to full for diesel engine model? Thanks!

My DEF was at Half Tank. So they added one 2.5Gal Jug to it.

I don’t have a diesel, but if you do a search on this forum, a lot of folks got half full DEF tanks also.
This is just pi$$poor dealer pre-delivery inspection, as they should follow a checklist and ensure all fluids are topped off, among other things.

Thanks for sharing. RAM 1500 has 8 gallon DEF tank so half should be 4 gallon, correct?

Dealers only give you 8 gallons of fuel. If you get a full tank your dealer is being nice.

Dunno about you. I'm spending $40-70K on a new vehicle - damn skippy they're filling my fuel tank up.

Well I typically negotiate for much more than the cost of a full tank of fuel that the 8 gallons is nothing compared to how many times over I can fill it with the savings.

Not a part of the negotiations. I get in to drive off the lot, and if the tank isn't full - it gets full before I leave. I have never left the lot, without a full tank.

I believe the Ecodiesel DEF tank is 5.5 Gallons. Some say it is 8 Gallons.
I will have to check the manual for my 2021 Laramie.

When I first stepped into my truck at delivery it was half full as well. Asked them to fill it and they did without issue. I don't think the DEF tank tank is 8 gallons. I put 5 gallons in and it completely filled it after I only had 200miles left of DEF range.

Bought a new Ecodiesel back in 2016. It came from the dealership with a full DEF tank. The tank size on those is 8 gallons. I don't see any reason they would decrease the tank size on the 5th gens, but you never know.

I always used to buy DEF from the CFN station where I filled up. If you go to one of the pumps for trucks you might find a DEF pump there too. It was about the same price per gallon as diesel, so even if your DEF tank comes half full it's not going to break the bank to fill it yourself.

DEF tank size on the Gen 3 EcoDiesels are 5.15 gals for Tradesman models, 5.74 gals for all others per the owner's manual. I know one 2 1/2 gal jug fills my tank about half way. My DEF tank was also half full at delivery.

My '15 had about a third of a tank, I told the salesman that I expected a full tank on my '20. He laughed and made a point of pointing out the full tank when I picked up the truck.

That’s what I figured you were getting at. Internet myth. It’s like those school aptitude tests that we used to take- remember the deductive logic questions? Sally uses a blue pen. Sally is a girl. All girls use blue pens.
Urine contains urea. Def contains urea. Def is made from urine. People started using some faulty logic to come to the conclusion that def is made from urine.
