Today while washing my truck I noticed this on the front drivers side tire. Have about 6000 miles on all the tires. Wondering if I should just replace it or is it something I can just fix. Thoughts?
If you have a road hazard warranty you might see if that would cover replacing the tire.
But it does like like it's just cosmetic damage, could use a bit of silicone sealant as a glue.
That doesn't look structural, just the outside vestiges of the rubber for naming. Just superglue that on or rip it off completely. Those things get ripped up on a lot of tires I see rock crawling in my area where the whole side of the tire is rubbing on rocks.
That would just be decorative on a jeep. Heck it's not even through the first ply of the sidewall. If it's not bulging or hissing, roll on. Color it with a sharpie if it really bothers you.
Really, the rubber is not the strength, the layers of material ply in there are. The tire shop I am sure would recommend replacement. Probably as a pair at minimum.
As long as there isn't an obvious bulge then it is most likely just cosmetic. Keep an eye on it to make sure a bulge doesn't develop.
Looks more like a bad boy scar.
