2019 RAM 1500 5.7L 5th Gen, non-eTorque...............Recently bought HPTuners MPVI3 dongle, got all their software, and 6 credits. I also bought their brand new unlocked Dodge PCM and installed that. So far, so good, truck runs perfect and is now ready for some little tweaks.
I am just getting familiar with the HPTuners software. I have a handful of basic things that I want to adjust in the tune, I'm gonna shut off MDS, perhaps adjust fan limits, those are no-brainers. But then I'd like to play with gas pedal response, perhaps change ratios for a little more pep. I'd also like to raise the everyday-driving shift points just a little bit. So for you guys that are DIY (do it yourself) playing with tuning, where are you getting educated? For instance, if you just wanted to adjust gas pedal/throttle body ratios where would you look for assistance and info?
And yes, I know I could hire a pro tuner, or buy a canned tune. I've done that many times in the past, with mixed results. However, sometimes it's necessary to have a really knowledgeable tuner helping out, no doubt. But this time, my expectations are minimal, and I'm going to be really fussy to get things EXACTLY like I want (which may require numerous fine adjustments), so I am going to DIY everything.
Thanks for any help.
