DIY Fishing Rod holder- Ram Box beds

Sharing because it took me a lot of time and research to figure out a solution that I wanted. Im hoping it will help others who may be looking for what I was.

I was looking for a rod holder solution but all I could find were high end or built for standard bed sizes (not the width of ram box beds) and none were what I really wanted. I wanted something I could slide in and out of the utility rails using the sprint nut cleats. I wanted to take it out if I wanted, move near the rear of the bed while at the beach and also something that worked with my folding cover.

I made a pretty simple mounting solution using aluminum I bought at Lowe’s and PVC piping. It mounts right on the factory cleats and slides / locks the same. It’s solid as a rock and super versatile. Love how it turned out.

Very nice. I went ahead and bought a heavy duty rod holder that goes into the hitch receiver. I wanted something that still allowed me to keep my gear in the bed of the truck with the cover closed. I had to rig my own mechanism to secure the rods for when I have to park somewhere. It is also a nice way to hold the rods when I need to rinse off all the salt after getting back from a day of fishing.
