Been reading mixed reviews about Plastidip and the fact that it tends to wear out after a couple years.

So I’m going to shell out the $$$ for OEM Mopar blacked out badges. Either from Amazon or eBay. Roughly $250

My question is, do those products also come with the adhesive to stick them back on? And if they don’t, what kind Of adhesive do y’all use?

Thanks and sorry to sound like a broken record ;)...

Yes they come with the adhesive needed to ensure a correct fitment.

Thank you sir! All OEM Mopar blacked out emblems have been ordered on eBay.
I will post pics when done in a week or so.

One more question sir... Techniques/recommendations on removing the emblems before sticking on the new ones? I’ve read about heat guns and fishing line. I also ordered a set of decal/emblem removers from amazon to assist.

Yes use a hair dryer and in a waving motion heat the outside and slowly pull the emblems away. Then also using that hair dryer wave that at the sticky residue and either use a wheel eraser or your fingers to remove what is left. You want a clean surface so that when you place the emblems on, it will stick cleanly.

Hey I literally did the same thing last weekend. Ordered all blackout badges and also vinyl lettering to make the letters pop (painted ram head myself) and removed all chrome badging. The key is definitely to use a heat gun and also FISHING LINE to get behind the badges and tear the decal away. Then you have to get the sticky stuff off. I used a 3M eraser wheel drill attachment off amazon that was amazing at removing the previous adhesive. I found it much faster than scraping away or using goo-gone or some remover. All new badges come with new adhesive and stick on easily. Only the hood 1500 and rear tailgate ram badge have any clips associated. Total time was about 3 hours for whole truck.

Looks awesome!
Going to do all that witthe exception of fishing line - I don’t have any, but I did order a decal removal kit from amazon that should do the trick.
Will post pics when done.

One more question boss..
For the decals like the door RAM emblems, the Bighorn emblem and the 4x4 emblem... How do you know exactly where to place the new one once you’ve cleaned off the goo from the old one? Me being all OCD, I want the placement to be exact.

Line up the edge of the emblem with masking tape before you remove them. Once you’re ready to put the new emblems on just line them up to the masking tape and the should be perfectly aligned to where the old emblems where. I also highly recommend buying a eraser wheel off amazon, I think you can get a cheap one for about $10. I did mine without the eraser wheel and it took me a little over an hour trying to peel off the excess adhesive left behind.

Perfect...thank you ToeKnee!
I did order the eraser wheel. All set to go, just waiting for the stuff to arrive.

Your truck is gonna look absolutely killer once it’s all blacked out!! Any plans for black wheels?

Just be careful with what eraser wheel you use, And how you use it. Some of them will burn through the clearcoat without much effort

Thanks bro... and yes I have plans for the wheels.
Found a good deal on a nice set of new 20” Technical Gray OEMs that they use on the Built to Serve editions. Pic of what it’ll look like below (Minus the grayed out bumpers and mirrors.. mine are body color patriot blue)

I’ve removed a lot of emblems and other items held on w/3M tape. I’ve found that fishing and adhesive removal, or similar, works best. The fishing line cuts through the tape like butter. When applying the new emblem, clean the surface w/isopropyl alcohol to ensure any remaining residue or wax is removed for better adhesion. 2F2C080E-C037-48FC-8BE4-44507CC3C3D3.jpeg

Apologies for the late response. I outlined the all of the emblems closely (leave a thin border around your emblem, maybe 1/4 inch with painters tape. I fully removed the decal and cleaned the area with isopropyl alcohol leaving the painters tape. This will give you a clear outline of where your logo should go because the painters tape is still around it. Hope that makes sense and goodluck!

Awesome. Thx!
Pics will be posted when it’s all done.. hoping in a couple weeks! (That’s when the new wheels should arrive.)
