I have a 2021 Ram 1500 with eco diesel. Does anyone know how to disable the "auto tow mode"?

When my bicycle rack is in the hitch the Auto Tow Mode comes on and it states I have a 30 foot trailer trailer hooked up. I've depressed the Tow / Haul button a few times. This does not get rid of the dashboard indication.

I don't want to sacrifice my gas mileage, with the vehicle thinking I am towing, when I am not.

I may be wrong but I think that 30' indicator only has to do with the blind spot monitor and doesn't affect anything else. Also, pretty sure it only activates if you have something plugged into trailer wiring harness either 4 or 7 pin.

Shouldn't be changing fuel mileage or drivability.

The tow/haul mode is not automatic, it only engages when you push the button. Oatbill is correct that the 30' indicator is only related to blind spot monitoring. It's odd that your bike carrier would trigger it.

Is it blocking the rear sensors? I think they're in the tail lights and the bumper.

I'm not sure they can be disabled.

Apologoes for the late reply. Thanks to all for the info. I'll let you know if i find out anything different.

I took a few photos to illustrate what I have and the alerts on dashboard.

sometimes I get the 30 foot trailer icon as well. My bike rack never comes off.

My 2019 Laramie does that with a 8-10' utility trailer all the time and says it's "auto" or "30FT" long lol

Your owners manual probably has an explanation of what the indication does to the truck but I believe the others are correct, it only effects your blind spot monitoring and thus the truck should not drive any differently or get worse mileage.

If you take a different mindset, you'll realize that your truck revs higher on acceleration and sounds meaner.

Seems odd. I have the same exact bike rack with zero issues. Yesterday I had my boat hooked up and the blind spot for trailering worked properly showing a 30 ft trailer and went away after disconnecting. Later I hooked up my bike rack and nothing showed on the dash even loaded with bikes. Only thing my bike rack messes with is the rear park sensors and my truck will slam on the brakes in reverse if not disabled.
