I'm starting to give consideration to ordering my 2020 with the RamBox bed, despite the threads on here about warpage, etc. I've always had a 6 1/2' bed and can easily fit my 450 dirt bike in the bed with the tailgate up.

Lots of people on this forum have commented that they feel the space in front of the wheel-well in a regular (non-RamBox) bed is wasted space. But I use it all the time when securing the bike.

A 5'7" bed with the RamBox option is obviously not only shorter than the 6 1/2' bed but also has less diagonal space available.

Do any of you regularly secure a 450ish size dirt bike in a RamBox bed? Are you able to easily do so with the tail gate up?

There is no way it would fit. Just by looking at one in person I could tell. I normally have two bikes in the bed, yesterday I had one (18 TC250) and it barely fit. I had the front wheel on the on the drivers side of the bed and the rear kicked out to the passenger side and there was just enough room to close the tailgate. I have a 19 rebel with the 5’7” bed.

I carried my 500 EXC, X-Trainer 300 and Sherco 2.9 in my 2017 Ridgeline all the time. It's going to be so much easier in my 2020 Laramie Longhorny with Rambox.

Meaning, you anticipate fitting your EXC in the RamBox bed with the tailgate up?

My XC-W is the same size as the EXC.

I hope so. Wheelbase on an EXC is 58.3", Bed is 67.4". I think it'll work. My other bikes are shorter so no worries.

I was curious about this myself. I was about to move my bike inside for a couple weeks to do some work on it before the race season starts.
My conclusion? It might! I think if you flattened the tires it would fit.
Some pics for ya. Truck is a 2020 Rebel withe Rambox. Bike is '19 300XC. One note, the brackets you see are from a Bakflip Tonneau cover. They do interfere a bit with the front tire.

One more from the side to show how much over hang there is. Also one with it straight in. Keep in mind that you can use the tail gate extender with the gate down. That's my plan.

Thanks for the pics. The wheelbase of all the KTM's mentioned in this thread is virtually identical. It does look like it would be very close with regard to getting the tailgate to close.

I suppose the alternative is to utilize the bed divider as an extender, leaving the tailgate down. If I understand correctly, the hardware required to utilize the bed divider a bed extender is available from the parts department, despite the hardware no longer being included with the divider/extender. And the threaded locations necessary to install the extender hardware are still present in the bed.

Yes, It's around $90 for the parts. My truck has the locations for the extender parts so that's probably the route I'm going.

It's been posted before but the part numbers needed to utilize the divider as an extender are below.

Order two of each part number:

Good thread. Let's wake it back up.
New '19 Rebel owner w Rambox here. I've already ordered the bed extender "pin and handle". should be here tomorrow. I don't mind leaving the gate down for transport.
I'm looking for a good semi-permanent chock system to accommodate easier, quicker loading as well as possibly loading up two bikes. Would this be possible w Rambox?
i really like this simple set-up. Not sure if it would fit and be useful.

Motorcycle transport, esp. w Rambox please chime in.

Easy to put 2 bikes in with the tailgate down. Using the bed extended is another story.

Anyone with pics of two bikes in a Rambox (tailgate down). I used to do it all the time in my regular bed truck.

Ok - did it. It’s tight, and I had to secure both bikes to their closest side, but it works.

Looks good. Recommendation turn the bars on both bikes so either front tires touch in the center or push into the box corners. Gives good clearance between the bar ends and also brings the bikes a few inches forward.
