Deployable Running Boards Safety Features?

If I close the door here, will my puppy be crushed to death or is there a sensor somewhere that will prevent retraction?

Freaked me out earlier as I was closing the door and then saw him under there messing around...SURELY there is a safety feature thinking of kids' legs and feet getting caught, right?

Also dog-related, anyone know of a decent-looking cover for the console lid? (have a seat cover, just not on for the picture...doing a trial seating with both of them up front )

The power side steps have an anti-pinch feature, just like the auto windows. If the pup gets caught, they’ll reverse direction, but I’m sure you’ll still get a yelp from him.
