I'd like to remove the Laramie and 4x4 badges off the tailgate. Has anyone done this yet? Are they simply taped on, or are there alignment holes lurking behind the badges?

I searched the Exterior forum, but could not find any info on this.

Yep, just swapped my 4X4 to the black emblem and debaged the doors; same ole tape adhesive of the last 15+ yrs; magic eraser wheel on the drill works wonders.

Heat gun and fishing line.

The Laramie emblem is made of metal and has sharp edges so take your time.

Peeled off the remaining adhesive by hand by gripping a corner and pulling up and away at a 30 degree angle. Residue can be removed with goo gone.

I had my lil helper on my 2015 ecodiesel and this was a year and half after I bought it. Should be no problem on a “new” ram 47B88C4B-D4BA-42D8-BA78-866BB9602A67.png 47B88C4B-D4BA-42D8-BA78-866BB9602A67.png 30BBECB4-E7CF-4F61-A2F0-008C06DF1A38.png 47B88C4B-D4BA-42D8-BA78-866BB9602A67.png 30BBECB4-E7CF-4F61-A2F0-008C06DF1A38.png

I just wanna remove my BigHorn badging in the rear of the truck since I have the Limited wheels. Will the paint be mismatched since I waited almost 5,000 miles to do this?

Whats the easiest way to remove it? Never done this before.

You should be fine on the paint, especially with silver. Easiest way to remove the badge is with fishing line and a little heat.

Not sure with the silver but I debadged a bunch of stuff off a black truck with 12000km into it and I can't notice any difference in colour. The debadging was fairly simple but there was quite a bit of residue left behind. It may take a little work to remove the adhesive.

I’ve never debadged anything before. What do I need to do it myself?

And another tip is since the 3M tape they use is "air release" try to catch a corner and pull it upright at a 90 degree angle. With luck it ALMOST comes off full letter at a time leaving ZERO residue. I did mine like that had ENTIRE badge off in less than 5 after i shimmied the fishing line behind first corner. My husband had done his a year earlier trying to roll each piece with thumbs. Took him 2 hours and 2 sore thumbs!

Got it - hair dryer good or do I need a heat gun?

Hair dryer should be fine... I actually removed mine early December in 25 degree weather with no heat at all o_O, so this time of year with any heat at all should be a cake walk.

Awesome thanks for the help. Once I get my truck back from the dealer tomorrow I will be doing this.
