Hey Folks looking for a little advice. Bought my Laramie Sport in December. Part of the deal was that the dealer would powder coat the rims black. Turns out could not be done as there is an insert that is plastic(??) on the 20” rims on the truck. Dealer then recommended having them painted and they came out looking great. Note I paid for this to be done.
Fast forward to January and I notice some minor chips on them. Fast forward to February and the paint is full on flaking off. Looks like whatever was done could not hold up to a Nova Scotian winter.
Dealer agrees that it is an issue and first offered to Plastidip the rims. LOL. Not acceptable. After a pile of back and forth, dealer has agreed to buy me an aftermarket set of rims.
They are offering Replika rims in black. Replika is a Canadian importer so rims are made in China for sure. Retail online from $250 to $300 Canadian per rim. Supposedly they are JWL and VIA but not TUV.
The Replika rims look ok but not as good as OEM (but better than the flaking POS paint job).
Any feedback on Replika rims? Any advice on whether I should take the offer or push for OEM? I am not keen on putting non black rims on the truck which is likely what I would get with OEM.
