Ohhhhhh that’s right. Not sure how that guy managed to do that but I remember reading about it. I have wondered why my truck does that too. They implemented this after that star trek actor crushed himself in his driveway.

Where/How did you find this? Just tried it out, ThanksI found that when trying to back up with the door open, after it puts itself into park and sets the parking brake, I can hit the parking brake release twice and it will override the system and allow me to back up with the door open.
Thanks Again, I have been on the forum 3+ years and the topic of this "feature" has been brought up and I do not recall any one with a resolution.Discovered it by accident.
Wow, good find!. My girlfriend would call me a dumbass for not reading the manual...From my 2020 Big Horn owners manual.
SafeHold
SafeHold is a safety feature of the Electric Park
Brake System that will engage the park brake
automatically if the vehicle is left unsecured
while the ignition is in ON/RUN.
The park brake will automatically engage if all of
the following conditions are met:
The vehicle is at a standstill.
There is no attempt to depress the brake
pedal or accelerator pedal.
The seat belt is unbuckled.
The driver door is open.
SafeHold can be temporarily bypassed by
pushing the Electric Park Brake Switch while the
driver door is open. Once manually bypassed,
SafeHold will be enabled again once the vehicle
reaches 12 mph (20 km/h) or the ignition is
turned to the OFF position and back to ON
again.
