Has anyone here signed up for PENFED got the certificate without having ties to the military or government or anything on the 1st screen? What did you fill in in order get approved?

Not exactly sure I understand your request - Pentagon Federal Credit Union membership, getting the certificate or both. PenFed requires you to have either military background / honorable discharge (like USAA) OR a parent that has that... my father served in the Navy and Air Force, getting me in for the prerequisite (app. 15 years ago - it may have changed since then). If you are joining just to get the certificate / rebate, I am pretty sure I remember there is a 60 day or 90 day member requirement to use the car buying program and get the certificate. Hope this helps. Yes, the program is legitimate, I would also be the first one to mention its a PITA to get the certificate - I would call the customer service number and get them to walk you through using the service.
