Comparison to Mega Cab

Hi! Sorry if this has been asked before, but I was debating between a 2500 Mega Cab, and 1500 Crew. How does the interior room compare? I currently have a 2014 2500 Mega, and I really like the rear seat room, and the reclining seats! Since I don't tow anything, and the Mega Cab now only comes in expensive diesel, someone on the HD forum suggested I go for a 5th gen, half tonner, which he claims has about equal room as a Mega Cab. Thoughts?

My 2021 Rebel was pretty much the same size in the back seat as my 2007.5 2500 Megacab. I like the look of the Megacab better but I don't think I'd buy another one for the cost alone. Unless they made a Megacab with an 8' bed, that I'd buy in a heartbeat.

IMO, go for the Laramie edition in the 1500. You get reclining rear heated seats. Plenty of room for the two adults kids, plus two Labradors.

I suppose I should have added more information than just screenshots… I have a 1500 crew cab now and have been looking at 2500 for sometime. Both of my children say that they prefer the rear seat of the 1500 because it has “a lot” more room according to them.

Yes a Mega with an 8' bed would be awesome! But 1500's don't have that either right? At least none are listed online.

That is a good idea. I have no dogs, but with the front bench, I can seat 6 folks, so this might be the way.

Thank you! I should go test drive one. I have literally never sat in a 1500, as a driver or passenger. Great advice, sounds like your kids have the idea!

And they folded forward which offered behind the seat storage and a large flat area for loading stuff. The seats in my Crew Cab slide forward which makes the back recline, but it creates a loss of leg room because it moves your knees closer to the front seat. The seat backs do not fold forward and there is no storage behind the seats. Now, I don’t know if the newer Mega Cabs are set up the same as they were before.

Thank you for this honest reply! This is what I was concerned about. I too have a Mega Cab (2014, but I think they're all basically the same anyway). Yes, the seats recline, which are awesome, and I like folding the seats down, which is how I leave it, except when my parents come to visit us. Based on your reply, I think I'll stay with Mega Cabs. I'm sure the 5th gen, half tons, are great, but there's just nothing like a Mega Cab, as your post just confirmed. Thanks again man!

The seat bottoms in the 1500 fold up so you can get a pretty large box or boxes in the back, aided by the flat floor and the wide opening doors.

I miss mine. Actually I miss the 600+hp Cummins. But the interior room was a plus.

I actually have the HEMI in mine, but either way they're great!
