Hey all, I have a 2020 ram 1500 limited Etorque.
My problem first started when I was getting a fluttering sound coming from the engine when I would accelerate. This sound was accompanied by loss of power and eventually, limp mode. Then my check engine light came on and I got P0016, engine timing. I looked in the forums here and started with the simplest- ended up replacing my cam sensor, crank sensor and VVT solenoid in that order.
The engine started acting far better when I replaced my VVT solenoid. The sound went away, but I still have hesitation with accelerating, rough idle and extremely high gas consumption with the codes P0172 and P0175, both banks running very rich.

now the grinding/fluttering sound returns, but only briefly and on rare occasions. My gas mileage is absolutely terrible. I’m wondering if I should look into my cam phaser? If my VVT solenoid was bad, could it have damaged my cam phaser and now perhaps it’s not actuating correctly? Was I supposed to do a cam/crank relearn after replacing the VVT solenoid?

If you need additional information, please let me know. There are some other symptoms, but I am not sure if they are related. Thanks so much!

My truck, 2019 Ram 1500 Limited did pretty much the same thing but my initial code was P000B. At first i thought it was the VVT solenoid but someone i know suggested i change out the crankshaft position sensor; I did and things improved slightly, briefly. Then i started getting codes P0172 and P0175. Ive changed out the PCV, EVAP solenoid, MAP and charcoal cannister. I would run my truck for 20-30 minutes all good and then park it. Come back later and withing 5 minutes codes were back. I finally noticed one of the lines to EVAP solenoid not connected correctly and this time i ran it for good 30-45 minutes and all was good. Came back later and again within 5 minutes got check engine light but this time only got P0175 and OBD recommended i change out 02 sensor. On idle engine is super smooth but when i accelerate it hesitates and sometimes i can hear a rattle; but only when check engine light is on. When i clear code, no sound, no hesitation. And thats where im at....if anyone has any input i greatly appreciate it. BlackBetty2020...if i fix my issues ill let you know; if you fix yours please share...just want my truck to work...
