Can anyone tell me what the clicking sound I'm hearing from underneath my truck on startup is?
It clicks about two or three times and is definitely coming from underneath.

Hi Ram Jam and DSGCobra,
We understand why this may be concerning. We suggest having your dealer inspect this concern if you have not done so already. We are also available via private message if you would like any additional assistance during that process.

Thank you for the response. I will also share any info I learn of.

Mine does the same thing. Ive been in 2 others that did the same thing as well.

Mine has recently started doing the same. It's just for a few seconds after the vehicle sits for a while. I was thinking it had something to do with the lifters and oil pressure taking a few seconds to reach them. I thought about adding some Lucas full synthetic with my next oil change to help the oil stick to these areas a little better when the truck sits overnight.

I believe it is just some of the self check systems. Transmission or a systems check. it is two or three distinct clicks a few seconds after start up. I dont believe it is anything to worry about.

Mine does it too, and to me it sounds like an electrical relay activating. The sounds are not coming from the engine bay (nothing to do with hemi tick), at least in my case and what I'm hearing.

Good to know I'm not alone with this. Sounds like it's something normal if multiple people are experiencing the same thing.

The ABS system and relay checks.
They make audible clicks.

Normal. Be worried when you don’t hear them.

Put your truck in 4x4 low/high instead of 2wd. I hear the same relay sounds/clicking when that stuff is switching around, as I do when the truck starts up.

I've been told it's normally for the Hemi's to have a little chatter on initial startup as long as it doesn't last too long and/or change and worsen over time. Both of the Hemi's I've owned did this occasionally.

It's not a lifter clatter sound... it's clearly from under the truck and is a more specific small series of pronounced "clicks"

As others have stated, it’s the self check system; ABS, transmission, etc. it’s completely normal.

Interesting point. I have a 4*2 and I don’t think I notice these. A friend has a 4*4 and they are definitely there. Very distinct as has been mentioned.

Mine did it a few times when it was new, hasn't done it in a long long time now. I found that not pressing the brake pedal hard at startup or using the remote start preventing the noise from happening.

But now, regardless of how i start my truck, it doesn't do it anymore. There is still a pretty big thread about this, just search "noise at startup".
