This weekend while cleaning my truck I noticed my driver's side tow hook has some grind marks under the chrome. It's not on the actually loop end that protrudes from the bumper its lower down and closer to where its mounted but is visible. Anyone one else have this on their truck? Just trying to guage if it's worth saying something about it next time I'm at the dealer or leave it alone.

"under the chrome"... as if the part wasn't smooth before being plated?

Yes. That spot wasnt smoothed out before chrome was applied and you can see some grind marks. Just trying to get some opinions on it. Again, it's not on the loop that comes out of the bumper it's on the arm part behind the hole where the hook comes through the bumper. Didn't know if I was being too picky or if it's not right.

On my Laramie, the right hand chrome tow hook has some roughness in the casting on the underneath side. It isn't grind marks but just a roughness near the front. The left side tow hook is perfectly smooth. It doesn't show so I'm just leaving it alone.

I feel I've also encountered this on a part somewhere (non Ram) but I cannot recall where.

However I don't recall it being an issue other than slight aesthetics.

Yeah I know it's not an integrity issue and only related to looks. I'll probably leave it alone.

Agreed. I might be concerned about integrity of the plating though... but I know nothing about it; for all I know the roughness may enhance plating strength.

It appears to be plated well. I guess I'll leave it be.
