I'm looking to change out ALL the ceiling/roof speakers in my 2019 RAM. I do have the upgraded Harmon Kardon system, but am not impressed. Has anyone done this yet? I found a post that someone replaced the 2 rear roof speakers which are 3 1/2" same as front dash. What about the front roof speakers? Any info would be greatly appreciated. Most likely I will be going with all JL Audio, as they seem to be arguably one of the best available.

Please Advise,

Mark O.

Yes same size as dash speakers. But I believe they are 2.5”. I can’t remember. I put same speakers in roof as I did the dash.

Do you have any bass in yours. Mine is so weak I am trying to figure out what to do.

JL Audio Stealth Sub. I’ve had them in 3 of my last 4 vehicles. Nothing compares to it. They are vehicle specific. Already picked one out for this RAM

Thanks that helps to know what to order. Did you just swap out the speakers or did you wire those through an amp as well ? I was looking at using the JL Audio C7.

I put that speaker in center dash. It’s amazing. Also headliner doesn’t get removed. The bezels are held on by metal clips for the roof speakers. They are tough as hell and pushing them back on is tough. I rewired every speaker in my truck with 16 gauge wire.

I plan on replacing all 3 in the dash. Next concern is wiring and insulation . Need to find someone qualified to take on that job.

Just because I'm curious...what don't you like about the HK system? I have the Alpine 9 speaker system in my Laramie, but I like the HK system in my wife's Limited a lot more. Definitely an upgrade over the Alpine system, and I've upgraded the dash speakers in the Laramie.

Can you guys help me. I’m trying to take off the plastic speaker house from the rear speaker in the headliner but I don’t want to break it and have found no videos of anyone removing. Would you pry from the corner or middle? And it would be from the outside of the bezel correct not the inside where there is a small gap?

Use a small pry tool. Put a credit card under the tool so you dont damage the headliner. Just lift it enough to get your fingers under and pull. Left bottom corner of the grill will come out first then the others.

Be careful putting them back on.
I still have one without the cover because the speaker mount came apart from the headliner. Its just glued in. Maybe vaseline the clips a little to help slide in without banging on it to get em back on.

Don’t tape the wires. Use them plugs that clamp the wires together or solder.

I removed the center dash speaker.

Be sure to use a mid range speaker in the doors or just leave the Alpine/HK speakers in there.
I replaced them with 2 ways and they sound like ****. So now i have to buy an amp. And the noise cancelling is giving me problems. The mornings are cold here now and i need to roll the window down a few inches to get rid of the drone.
So i’d just leave the door speakers alone.

my friend and i both replaced everything except the 12in. i had the alpine he had the HK. neither 1 of us kept the center dash or the rear headliner speakers and both set up's sound awesome IMO. those 3 speakers only work when you use the surround sound. i don't need rear headliner speakers because if i have passengers we are having a conversation so the volume is down and front stage is really what you want. when you got to a concert do you turned your back to the stage? the day's of 6x9's in the rear deck are so over.
he went JL subs, amp's + hertz 6.5's. i did Audiocontrol amp's + subs.
i don't think the rear headliner speakers are needed but if you want to keep them you do you to each his own

I replaced them with Kenwood Excelons with the crossover cut off. They sounded okay i suppose.
Trying to sell speakers to try others is next to impossible here where i live. .

Thanks. I’m not changing out the speakers it’s just I feel like I hear a rattle in the speaker area and wanted to try and see what it was. It comes and goes. But even when the radio is off I still hear it :/
