*Newbie here*. I have a new 2020 Bighorn Crewcab with the basic speaker system (not Alpine). Crutchfield says using 4 ohm speakers in place of what's there would not be ideal since the factory's is lower ohms. They suggest an after market amp and all the BS that goes along with it. I hate to start tearing stuff apart in a brand new truck. Has anyone just simply changed out their speakers one for one with no amp or DSR1? What were your end results?

You can swap out speakers no problem. Tons of threads on this and options. I went with infinity dash and doors. Some did kickers or jbl or JP audio, etc. personal choice. Bottom line, easy upgrade, big difference. If you buy from crutchfield they will throw the metra harnesses in for free.

From what I understand, the stock speakers are less that 4 ohms (possibly 2 ohm), which decreases output of the speaker. Therefore, they suggest an amp...?

Completely untrue and I’m not sure why crutchfield would say that. Sometimes you get a bad tech. I’d call back and speak with someone else. You definitely want to stick with quality stuff and I like to match the dash and doors. An amp and sub will take it to the next level but is not necessary.

Anyone upgraded their dash speaker in the center?

Again, plenty of threads on this.
Here you go. The Infinity Ref 3032s are great for center & side speakers on the console.
Much better than the cheapo Chicom OEM crap our trucks come with:

IMO just replace the dash speakers with any quality speaker. It’ll be the best bang for your buck you can spend and you’ll probably be happy with that one simple mod.

So I just put these in the corner dash, they are a huge improvement, but, they seem to overwhelm the rest of the system unless I use the fader to drive more sound to the rear speakers. Can I assume that upgrading the rear door speakers will add more balance? The front door speakers are now very muted compared to the dash out put.

Any guidance on this. I still prefer the results of the upgrade, just seems the rest of the speakers cant compete on their own now....

It won't hurt obviously. For me, the three on the dash were enough for my ears.
Again, it can only be better since factory speakers are bottom of the barrel on these vehicles.
