CB Radio

Has anyone installed a CB radio on their rig? If so, where did you mount it and which antenna did you go with? I’m having a hard time deciding what to get and where to place it. I don’t want to rock crawl so my only concern is if I go fast and hit something like a small jump , that the antenna will whip forward and hit the cab or something.

Any input would be appreciated!

To get a proper ground for the antenna, there needs to be bare metal contact. Where on the truck are you willing to remove paint to bare metal? The other option is a hand held CB. While it will not have the same range, they work fine for trail work with others within a half mile or so.

this is how i do it .... the magnetic mount antenna will not come off and does NOT require bare metal and has not scratched my paint ... i have used this type antenna (little wil) since around 2005 ... works well for me up to about 3 miles

Right on! I appreciate you posting pics. Definitely helps give me ideas! I like your set up as well.

If off roading, I would not want an antenna on my roof. Low hanging crap will knock it over. For on road use or maintained fire roads it is fine.
