Carpet questions and part numbers.

UPDATE:

Ok, so cleaned the rear window channel really well and let it dry. I used two tubes of the Permatex windshield flowable caulk. I cut one tip medium and one tip small. I used the larger one for the corners and where it could fit and the smaller tip for the tougher areas. I could see it drip down the sides at least 6 inches. I used a Q-tip without the fuzz to run through the channel as soon as I finished to clear/clean any visible sealant. Will wait 24 hours and do the hose test.

Also I removed the third brake light. After the screws it was a bit difficult to remove, I had to tip it and it popped out. Zero water or smell inside. I think they changed the design, because the light has two separate seals. A ring that goes around the whole backside flat and a second strip parallel to the roof glued to the top half. Both seemed supple and squishy. I didn't want to rip them off and do the butyl tape. Hope that wasn't a mistake. I could reach the sharkfin nut, felt around only felt it and the wires. It's tight in there and you can't see. I just left it.

After the vinegar the truck had a smell of it, no mold smell, I ran the ozone for 20 minutes and let it air out. Only the slightest vinegar smell now. Once I get it reassembled I will do another 20 minutes.

More good news, I have had the carpets upside down in the sun for a few days... I tried smelling the real bad parts... I don't smell a thing. I am going to gently power wash them right now, then use a steamer with a cleaner in it. Rinse. Then hang in the sun again until fully dry. I think I am going to be good.

Steam the seats, then reassemble everything and one more 20 minute run with the ozone machine. If the seals hold, I should be good. Will check out the leak detector products as a backup as well. Maybe even cover/tape the area when I go next year just to be extra safe.

i had MANY new Pontiac Bonneville's in 1995 that had so much water in then the spare tire was literally floating. after i repaired about 25 of them the carpet weighed about 100 pounds soaking wet, GM contacted me to find out how i was fixing them. there was a seam on the drivers side where the q panel met the c pillar that was separated i found when i was locked in the trunk while someone hosed the car. i used flowable seam sealer. in 96 they added a spot weld and more seam sealer i like to think i had something to do wit that LOL. anyway all those cars had the smell you spoke of i dried the carpets and threw them back in the car's were so new the plastics gassing off still gave them that new car smell. one more thing you can do but it's kinda strong is this product i got to remove the smoke smell from my other truck pro detailers use it. it made it smell like a indoor pool for a few weeks. i paid 15 bux for it but now it's 25! now that's inflation!!!!!
or you can just throw some carpet fresh on the floor before you reinstall the carpet.....
you did a pretty professional job there give. yourself a pat on the back. nice work!

Awesome.. Super cool story!

Once I get it back together if I still have any smell issues creep back I will give that product a try. Thank you.

(My fun story: I have a 99 VFR. V4. I told my wife for a decade it is a special bike, she always rolled her eyes. We drove Route 66 a few years back and we stopped at a car museum. One of them had one motorcycle among all these amazing cars. MINE. I'll never let her live it down.) 🍻

****... failed the water test. Still leaking at the corner. TWO tubes used..IT MIGHT be a bit slower... Will go get another two tubes...

this time I pried up the plastic strip that runs down the roof a little and put in another half a tube. I'll let you guys know if it works. All the interior pieces are just about ready to go back in. (fingers crossed)
