Capless Fuel System Locking Gas Cap?

OK, I just had to spend north of $10,000 because someone put DEF into my diesel fuel. Can't help but tthink that might have been prevented had the fuel door had a lock on it. Pretty expensive payout just because of someone's malicious intent. Wonder if FMCA will cover this expense under warranty, nope they will not. They considered it abuse or misfueling.
this will slow them down

Insurance claim.

This is not how you introduce yourself to the forum members here. Tone it down or face the consequences.
If you think no lock on a gas system in America is ok, then you are a true blue dipshit. This is America, few people siphon gas but TONS of people are *******s. Having ZERO deterrence to stop someone from vandalizing you cars fuel system is stupid and the only reason for car companies to pull it, is to save a penny and put the burden onto the owners. And to the clowns that think people don’t do this, it happens enough that if you have full coverage insurance, they have a claim system set up for it.

I can honestly say in the 5 years I have been on this forum I have never seen a single post about anyone ever having someone out something in their fuel tank. And the many years I have been part of other Facebook automotive groups, I have seen maybe two reports of anyone ever having anything put in their fuel tank.

I've never actually owned a vehicle that has had any type of locking fuel door or gas cap.

Now, does it happen? Sure, crazy ex's, or other people you have somehow pissed off. But not that common. Seems most of the time it's people using sugar, which is stupid, because sugar doesn't do anything to modern fuel systems. It doesn't dissolve in gasoline, and the fuel filters will keep it from being sucked out of the tank.

These days I'm not worried about anyone trying to steal from the nozzle, I'm just worried about some crazy bum using a drill and trying to get it directly from the tank.

Yeah, if they are stealing fuel, it won't be by siphoning it.

does anyone make something similar to this for the fuel tank?

Many vehicles have and have had INTERIOR releases for the fuel door. I have also heard of thieves just destroying the fuel door in order to steal fuel. So, IMPO I would rather they just take the fuel, and leave the truck undamaged. Cheaper that way in the long run.
