Brighter LED?

Is it possible to adjust (obd) the brightness of the LED strips in the headlights? I would rather not run the DRLs at dusk and in general.

Thanks in advance!

Let me know aswell how the install goes, I been looking at this aswell. Just don't know how I feel about cutting open the headlight unit and resealing 😩 even if a pro does it I feel I might have moisture issues in the future

I've had the Diode Dynamics LED boards since they were introduced. While they are a bit brighter it isn't a huge difference. Have had zero moisture issues and I didn't cut the headlights open. Just used heat and cold glue removal tools. Used butyl rubber when attaching the lenses back the the headlight body for easier removal if ever needed again as the manufacturer uses Permaseal. Pain in the butt to remove.

Not really any way besides the above link. Rather expensive just to have brighter leds.

I was going to look into trying to change the led voltage in alphaobd but don't think it's going to be a possibility. Instead, you can run the amber turn signals as drls. They are much brighter. That you CAN do in alpha.

That sounds like a good option. Can you share more details of the options in alphaOBD to change that?

Haven't done it yet. Might try it out in a bit. I believe once you're in BCM, search drl. There's a DRL location option. I've heard fog lights don't work, but I've seen a post where they got turn signals to work.

Okay, went out and got it done. Easy stuff. I'm liking it. They are pretty bright. I worry about longevity as these are not cheap to replace which is why I wanted to use the fog lamps. I'll. Leave it for a bit and see if I want to try something aftermarket.

Not much of a video, but wanted to see how the turn signal acts with them set as drls.

Looks pretty good! Were you able to use the fog lights as DRLs using alpha?

I didn't even try. I read on this forum somewhere that you can't. You can select it, but nothing happens.

Don't forget to also turn them on in the uconnect menu. I forgot at first and was like "what the hell, nothing is happening."

So, turn that on. Then go into apfa and update the screen I posted above. Then turn off the truck, lock the doors and walk away for 5-10 minutes. Come back and start it up, turn signal drls should be on.

Sorry, assumed you had it. Worth it for sure. I'm having all kinds of fun with it.

- Disabled drl drop out with high beams
- Added heat when I upgraded mirrors
- added rain sensing wipers
- changed drl locations
Pretty sure there's more. Feel like I learn something new daily
