Got an email from these folks today, looks like they may be releasing an exhaust manifold kit for the DT 5.7 hemis.

Maybe some good news. :)

I don't get it; why not just install a shorty header (or LT) at this point? Why spend $500.00 bucks, and a bunch of labor, for no performance gain?

Probably geared more toward the crowd that wants stock style replacement manifolds that wont crack like the Oem units. I don’t think any company has come up with a quality shorty header that doesn’t end up cracking as well and not everyone wants LT.

Makes sense. I'm one of those types; if I'm tearing into something, there better be some improvement for the effort. :)

We're not all looking for "performance gain", which basically is nothing more than burning fuel at a higher rate. I'm quite satisfied with the amount of power my truck is capable of in its stock condition. Those who have experienced the apparently common cracked manifold situation are going to spend $500 and a bunch of labor anyway, so this looks like an opportunity for improved replacement parts.

Some may see it as a preemptive upgrade to prevent a likely future failure. I've adopted a wait-and-see attitude, as my truck already has the improved version of the OEM manifolds, which have not cracked (yet).

Pretty much all shorty headers crack. Not enough room for them to expand and contract with the temp cycles. I went through two sets of shorties. I researched all the other manufacturers and they all pretty much have the same problem. Long tube and new downpipe is the only way to go if you want headers. Now you are looking at a about a 3-5 thousand dollar investment to gain 15 - 30 HP.

Well, I guess time will tell if these don't suffer the same fate.

I've been waiting for these to come out and I just ordered them. I don't trust OEM (too worried about keeping them cheap), done with cracking shorties (I installed two sets) and I don't want to shell out thousands of dollars to change over to long tube.

Let us know how they work out.
