Hi guys. Have researched until my eyes are cross, but wondering if you can help me with any info on the BLAU transmission fluid change kits? I have a 2021 Ram 1500 5.7 & 8HP75 with 80,000 and am about to do a tranny fluid change, which will entail a new pan/etc. I have read many posts on the PPE and may go that route, but the BLAU website has a fairly good video on the change procedure and I am considering them. Any thoughts.....good or bad? Any thoughts on their tranny fluid…..the Ravenol? TIA!

If you plan on keeping the truck long term, I'd highly recommend the PPE pan. As for the change procedure, it would be the same regardless of what pan you decide to use, other than you will need to extra quarts of fluid with the PPE pan

Do you know if the PPE pan is a plug and play? Seems like I read somewhere about a component you have to remove from OEM pan and install on the PPE pan. Also, I remember reading from someone that stated the PPE didn’t come with a gasket. I am leaning towards the BLAU because they seem very thorough with their kit as well as a very informative vid.

The PPE pan does not come with a gasket. You can re-use your factory gasket, which I did or buy a new OEM style gasket. As far as I stalling the pan, you are supposed to remove the metal grommets from the factory pan to use in the PPE pan to prevent over tightening the pan and damaging the gasket or pan. They are easy to remove. I just used a small socket and a hammer. Tools you should have on hand if you are doing your own work anyways. Did not take much effort to remove them. And they just push into the PPE pan by hand.

As for the video, you can still use the video don't get so hung up on that aspect that you totally dismiss a better part. If you plan on keeping your truck long term, you will be better off with the PPE pan with a replacable filter instead of having to buy a new lan every time. Also produced less waste

Thank you for the feedback sir. Still not sure which route I will go. The Blau pan/kit is plug and play and they have a 4.9 rating out of many reviews. I do like the PPE larger capacity though.

PPE is the beat bang for the buck if you plan on keeping the truck past the next fluid change and really is a simple bolt on just like the Dorman replacement.. other then knocking out the spacers which easily done with a socket and tap from whatever you have close by. You don’t even have to use the spacers.. I didn’t but wouldn’t hurt. $30 replacement future filters versus getting a new pan/filter every time.

I actually chose to go with the blauparts kit over the PPE pan. The PPE pan is BETTER however, if I continue at 70,000 mile intervals, it's not worth it imo. My truck already has a transmission cooler (I think it's an option and not standard. Can't recall though) and I don't do any real severe duty drives regularly.

PPE pan is $320 w/ filter and an additional $270 if buying 8 quarts of ravenol fluid to keep it the same math wise. $300 for filter and fluid for future changes.

Blauparts kit is $300 each change.

If you're doing more frequent fluid changes then I could see the value there.

Ideally I'm gonna keep my truck for another 10-12 yrs but I think there's a certain level of luck involved. Especially considering I've got the E-torque system. So even if I plan for longevity I don't know that it'll make sense financially at a certain point.

glad to see your planning on keeping it long-term. you do have a ET truck so luck plays a HUGE part LOL i totally agree.
i would love a PPE but budget wise it don't make sense for me at this time i need to do a service but can't really afford double the cost to do it.
it's sweet. if your a upgrade/mod junkie by all means get it.
environmentally a throw away plastic pan is a stupid idea as is any plastic component that could and should be made out of aluminum.

I went with Liquimoly on my fluid change. Under $200 for the fluid. It's full synthetic and made in Germany just like the Blauparts fluid. $307 for the PPE pan off Amazon for the black one, $287 for the "raw" pan. Next fluid change will be $30 for filter and whatever the price of fluid is at the time. If it's similar then it will only be $230+tax total
