Hi all, as the title states, I’d like to black out all the emblems/badges on my 2019 patriot blue Big Horn.

Pricing all of the blacked out OEM emblems on eBay/Amazon, I’m looking at around $250 for everything and it would involve pullling off the chrome emblems and replacing them with these.
I’m not sure if the emblems from eBay/Amazon come with their own adhesive?

Or, I buy one bottle of plastidip and do it myself for MUCH cheaper without pulling off any emblem.

Not sure how the finished product would be with Plastidip... would it look the same as the OEM ones?

Thanks for any suggestions

This option gets you In for $200. eBay and Amazon screen shots below. And there’s much less work involved

Thanks Once again buddy.
Exactly what I had looked at, except I also added in a blacked out Big Horn emblem which brings the total up to $250ish.

Still not sure which route to go, I would rather save $$$ and Plastidip but I want to make sure the finished products look as good as OEM.

Ahhhh yeah that’s missing. Didn’t catch that. If you dip you’ll need new adhesive. What do you plan on using?

Did not know that. I thought you just dipped with the emblems still attached, just got to put up a bunch of newspaper and masking tape to avoid getting the spray outside the emblem surface. At least that’s how it looked on the YouTube videos I watched. What am I missing?

You you could be right. I never dipped. Just assumed it was a removal process etc. If it’s a spray then you’re probably good to go.

Plasti dip is awesome. If you don't like it peel it off takes about 30 seconds. When it does start looking bad peel it and do it again. I just did my mudflaps in gloss black. Thinking about doing my bug deflector, if the smoke starts grating on me.

Thats good to know. In the end I paid more to go with OEM blacked out emblems simply to avoid the whole “when it starts looking bad“ and having to redo it. I do appreciate the intel.

Plasti-dip can last a long time. I used that on the skid plate on my previous 2017 Rebel and it was still in good shape after 2 years. Only reason I removed it was to paint it with bed liner to make it more permanent. I've also used it on wheels with no issues. The only recommendation I have to to make sure you apply it thick if you think you'll ever want to remove it. The thicker it is the easier it is to remove later. There is also a solvent available to aid in removal, which works great.

Blackout or color match. this is a really close Ivory Tricoat. Plasti-dip white with pearl and clearcoat. Plasti-dip can be pretty versatile.

I usually do plasti-dip as a “dry run”, to see how it would look. After a few weeks (or months), I would def know if it‘s something if I want to do permanently (specially for wheels etc).

I did plasti-dip back in March and it’s already peeling from my front RAM emblems. Other emblems still look good, but I’m going to swap the front letters with something longer lasting.

The vinyl overlays from reflective concepts are a solid option

It sprays on. No need to remove anything. I did my BMW rims, grill, rear badging, and it has lasted 3 years in Iowa winters. Then if you want a change, it peals right off. I love the stuff!
