2019 Ram Laramie 1500 4X4
I was wondering how the Bilstein 5100s with the setting at 1.5-2” of lift in the front affects the ride vs stock struts.
One thing I love as a new to Ram owner is the ride vs the ‘17 silverado I had. I put a set of 5100s on the Silverado with it set to 3/4” lift and it made the ride even worse front and back (I also had a spacer level and bigger rear blocks on the Chevy)
I would like to level the Ram but don’t want to completely lose the ride quality, I can accept a little worse ride.
I searched and couldn’t find the answer I needed.
Thanks

I effected, IMO. Ride quality is still great.

I think the spacers and extra rear lift blocks hurt your Chevy's ride.

I have, and have had, Bilstein 5100's on my last 4 trucks (F250, 2 F150s, and the RAM 1500). All of them have rode better than stock, and I had them all set to the 2nd or 3rd notch up from factory ride height. (I tow and need the rake)

I know this thread is getting a little old now but I am looking into getting a set of 5100's for the front of my truck. I can't seem to find a good answer anywhere on how to make adjustments to the ride height after the new struts are installed. Do you have to remove them and compress the spring or can you use a floor jack to take the weight off and move the clip from one setting to another while it's still installed in the truck?

It’s like getting them installed all over again. Springs need to be removed because the clips are what holds the spring perch in place.

Just had mine installed on clip position 5 which makes the truck dead level.

Need to remove the struts and completely take them apart again

As mentioned above, basically remove, adjust, and reinstall. I'm not sure this can be accomplished on the truck.

I mean, if you can somehow figure out how to get a coil spring compressor on the spring while in the truck, it's could be done, but kit sure there are any spring compressors that would do that

Well that's a real bummer. I'm going to look into the cost of a nice spring compressor to own but I may end up going back in with a factory shock or at least a factory size aftermarket.

The Eibach coilover kits for these trucks allow you to adjust on the truck, for not too too much more money than the 5100s.
