Best Mods under $100?

Hey all,

Ive had my ram about 3 weeks now. I have blacked out all emblems, blacked out tail lights, tinted windows, bug shield, nerf bars, and ceramic coated it. Tomorrow I have a B&M Shifter coming to install.

Any other solid modifications to do for cheap? While I do have plans for a lift/wheels and tires, I was trying to knock out some of the small stuff first. I have considered a bedliner, but am not familiar with how difficult it is to install, or how the DIY Bedliners look after install.

Any input would be appreciated!

You can remove the carbon filter from the intake, and that's on the house

For bedliners I got the factory spray on, but added a Dee Zee bed mat for extra protection (bed metal is super thin) and to stop things sliding around. In the past my preference was a drop in liner, but they trap water and can cause rusting underneath. I'd go for a quality spray on, but that can be expensive

I was looking at doing my own spray on. Line X charges about 600 to get it done, I wasn’t interested in doing a drop in, so was considering buying the 100 dollar raptor liner kit and doing it myself. Wasn’t sure exactly how difficult it was

As far as DIY bedliner is concerned, prep is key. Rolling on bedliner is the same as rolling on paint, but you have to prep the surface almost down to the bare metal. If you think you've spent enough time on it, and you come out to about 2 hours prepping go back and prep for another 2 hours. I'm repeating myself, but I can't stress enough how important prepping the surface is. I did the roof of my old truck since the clear coat was gone, and it took me over 3 hours JUST for the roof which didn't have many nooks and crannies. That's one of the reasons you're going to pay 500-600 for a professional spray on liner.

Of course, you can always just spend an hour or two prepping the bed, then come on here and complain about how crappy DIY liners are.

Multiple YT videos on it. Major PITA and ideally you need a good spray gun. If you already have a set up it’s great, else buying everything for the set up + stripping the paint to bare metal - the time you spent might be closer to $600. Only you can decide if it’s worth. For me, Nopes and it’s messy at best.

I bought these FyreFlys. It was only $20 and I was able to change all my interior lights plus my cargo lights to LED.

I just ordered there for my bed. Somebody else on the boards had them and I thought why not give them a try for the price. I also have a bed rug that was just delivered and will be putting that over the factory spray in bedliner.

Do you already have the Xeon or HID headlights? If you have Halogen you can switch them out with some BeamTech LED headlights. Less than $40...

I was looking at getting a Line-X Bed Liner, But since I am getting a Leer 122 Cap
for it and would be putting in a Rug or something else. I decided on a BedRug
instead. It serves both purposes. I picked up some Pod LED lights for additional
backup lighting. Got some DeeZee Black Aluminum Trad Plate Mudflaps for my
2021 Laramie, Black, with Night Package. I will be getting a set of McGuard
Black Wheel Locks and Lug Nuts to complete the Blackout Apperance. I have
the Bright Aluminum Diamond Plate to make an AUX fuel Tank for in the bed.
Transfer lines will go to the filler neck.

Future Mods include moving my Nathan Airchime K5LA Train Horn, York 210
Engine Driven Compressor, & Air Tanks over from my 2008 Big Horn.

Liking the aux fuel tank idea, how many gallons? Another cheap upgrade is a Dee Zee tailgate assist damper, the ball studs are already there, it pops right on. It's standard on higher trim levels, but really should be standard across the range considering how inexpensive it is

Best thing I did for my truck that was $100 was replacing the muffler with a straight pipe.

I am making a Bladder Buster. So I also have to install a "Pilot Relief Tube."
The Aluminum sheet is 60" x 120". That will allow me to make a tank
14"D x 20"H x 60" wide, which calculate out to 72 Gallons. Plus I have the
Factory 33 Gallon Tank. This is for the 6'-4" bed. The 5'-7" bed only gives you
4.5 inches before you hit the Wheel Wells. With 105 Gallons, at 29 MPG,
Puts me over a 3000 mile range on the Hwy.

On my 2008 Big Horn with 5.7L Hemi, I took the bottom 8" of the tool box
and made a 36 Gallon AUX Tank out of it. I would get about 950 miles out of the
62 Gallons of both Tanks.
