Bedliner on factory tailgate cap and bed rail plastics?

Looking to get a spray in bedliner and was thinking to have the factory plastics coated as well since they are getting scratched up.
I am also considering getting the lip just above the tailgate handle sprayed to protect the paint from being scratched. Anyone do this?

Possible to remove the plastic and coat both? I feel the plastic helps stop dents as the sheet metal on these trucks is thick as a can of Highlife

this was my thinking, just keep the plastics on and have them coated to toughen them up from future scratches/damage. Just not sure how well it will adhere to the plastic and if the texture will look bad.

The plastics would need some level of preparation, maybe some light grit sandpaper followed by a plastic paint primer. The guys who spray the liner will tell you if it will work out or not

I think it would look fine, assuming the bed liner will stick to the plastic parts. As for the top of the tailgate area, that should look fine as well since your truck is black.

Pulled the trigger on this setup this week and pretty happy with how it turned out. Worth the extra $150 in my opinion

Have you taken a look under the bedliner? Had a 2001 Dakota and only 6 months after getting it had it Line-ex'd. I waited around for it and they showed me the bed after they removed the liner before coating. Many scratches and surface rust as water gets in under the bedliner. Since your going aftermarket and not factory they should have an option for thicker coating. Personally I would never spray the bedliner.
