I'm not an authority and I don't have my truck yet to measure. But I think I read that the width between the ramboxes is 49 inches.

Depends on where you measure it. Narrowest point is between the tie-downs, and is 49 inches. There's no issue with carrying 4 foot wide plywood or sheet rock if that's what you're wondering.
