Bed Covers and Stake Holder Holes

I’m shopping for a tri-fold cover for my new Ram and I’m wondering what folks do with the stake holder holes at the rear of the bed. See the pics.

The cover in the pic of the white Ram is an Extang Encore, which I’m considering. And it looks like the owner didn’t bother to plug the stake holder holes with a cap. I’m assuming there are caps to plug these holes. This would seem to allow water to leak into the bed.

Thoughts and experience?

I always add bull rings to my rails. They make flush mount ones that fit well (but do require trimming). I like the extra tie down points that they add.

i got mine off an amazon link someone posted in another thread. basically made by truxedo for a 4th gen model but it fit perfectly in my 5th gen limited. doesn't sit flush like geotex1's but i only need it to keep water from getting into the bed, and it's only $12 so whatever works for you.

If you are potentially looking for a soft tri fold (at about 40% of the cost of the encore) - the extant trifecta 2 Model (I went with the signature series on the 2019) basically almost covers my rear flush mounted bull rings (that I reused off my 2015 ram 1500).

I like the bull rings as well. I tried to put my old ones from the Titan in there but they won't fit. I don't think bull ring is making the 2019s yet because when I look them up on realtruck they only have them for the "classic".

Online (bullring site) the rears look to be the same as the old classic (4067) - and mine from the 2015 fit just fine.

Fronts do look like a different part number for 2019.

I have fronts and rear bull rings. The fronts are indeed a unique part for the 2019. The rears are the same as 2018, both require cutting and routing though.

Do you have to cut and route if you don't care about a flush fit? Mine on the Titan just sat on top of the caps and they looked fine.

I believe on Ram they all require a cut and route because ram lines the inside of the rear holes with plastic. If you don't route it out then it won't let the bull ring fall in. You could call/email bull ring to confirm though, they are amazingly responsive

Yes they need to be cut out in order to fit and function properly.

How do you like the cover? I just ordered one for my 6’4” bed. From what I’ve seen, it looks great.
